Along with its partners and friends, Smart Commute NTV works to: implement employee trip reduction programs; decrease traffic congestion; improve air quality and health; improve local infrastructure and transit accessibility by advocating for sustainable transportation; encourage transit-supportive development and province-wide smart-growth strategies; and, increase opportunities for TMA collaboration with businesses, institutions, NGOs, and governments.
Encourages and supports sustainable transportation infrastructure (e.g., high occupancy vehicle (HOV), bus-rapid transit (BRT) and cycling lanes; pedestrian ways, rail-based transit systems) and smart growth strategies (e.g., high-density and transit supportive development, transportation hubs), all of which can reduce Single Occupancy Vehicles (SOVs), thereby reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality.
