PowerStream is recognized as one of Ontario's Environmental Leaders in adopting green practices to help protect the environment. The company participates in many Smart Commute events and programs including Bike to Work Day and vanpooling.
Carpooling
Employees can register on PowerStream's Carpool Zone to find a ride match and split the cost of commuting:
1. Enter an address for your home and destination.
2. Search for matching commuters. To increase your potential matches, adjust your match options.
3. Send matching commuters an invitation to carpool. If both parties agree, you will receive each other's contact details.
4. Start carpooling!
Employee Vanpool Program
As part of PowerStream's initiative to go green, an Employee Vanpool Program was implemented in 2009.
How does it work?
- Takes 27 Single Occupant Vehicles (SOVs) off the road during peak-period, and replaces them with vans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Reduces commuting time, costs and stress, which improves employee satisfaction and retention
Active Commuting
Depending on where you live, walking can be the best way to get to work: it costs nothing, has zero GHG emissions and promotes physical health. If you walk to your destination you likely identify and appreciate a different set of landmarks along your route than drivers do.
Biking: Many of our daily trips are well within cycling distance (0-10km). Trips taken by bike save you the cost of transit, gas and parking, have zero impact on air quality, and burn calories with every pedal forward.
